Tuition Reduction Incentive Program (T.R.I.P.)
An easy way for families to reduce their tuition costs
Reduce tuition costs through everyday shopping at no cost to you
How It Works
TRIP Documents:
(Grocery Order form updated Sept 3, 2010)
VISTA Order Form
(Previously Shop & Support)
- Retailers offer discounts on shopping certificates purchased in bulk.
- Discounts vary from 1% to 10%.
- The school purchases certificates at the discounted rate.
- When people buy certificates from the school at retail value, the discount value goes to the school.
- T.R.I.P. allows families to split profits they earn from the certificates they buy 50-50 – 50% to tuition reduction, 50% to the school budget.
Example
- A $100 certificate at a 5% discount yields a $5.00 profit.
- $2.50 would go to the school, $2.50 to the family who purchased the certificate.
- Profits earned from May 1 to April 30 will be added up and the tuition reduction will be issued for the following school year.
Typical earnings
- At a minimum, a family that spends an average of $100 on groceries per week would earn a total of $250 in a year, half of which would go towards tuition reduction ($125).
- Most families can easily earn $200 to $300 per year towards tuition, just through groceries.
Other T.R.I.P. Opportunities
- JKCS families can direct 50% of their profits to another JKCS family.
- JKCS families can opt to donate 100% of profits to the school.
- Individuals with no children at JKCS can donate 50% of their profits to tuition reduction for a family of their choice.
- T.R.I.P. participants may direct their profits to the Tuition Assistance Fund. This general fund is used to assist families who apply for assistance to pay tuition costs. It is administered by the Finance Committee.
- Families anticipating the enrolment of their children at JKCS in the future may begin reducing tuition for the first year of enrolment by purchasing certificates. T.R.I.P. registration is required.
How to participate in T.R.I.P.
- In order to keep information as current as possible, all participants are required to fill out a T.R.I.P. registration form every year.
- Order shopping certificates from the school using the weekly order forms sent home with the JKCS Link. Forms are also downloadable from the JKCS website. Orders will be filled once a week from the school.
- Standing orders for grocery certificates are welcome and encouraged.
