John Knox Christian School Strategic Plan
Background
In the spring of 2004, a board approved consultant, Brenda Tindale, of Bredale and Associates, held a series of discussion groups with the community of John Knox Christian School. The purpose of these meetings was to “dissect” the school, with a view to identifying all possible improvements, and any barriers preventing us from making those improvements.
Taking all of that data, a group of nine from the school community – Ed Boelens (principal and parent), Joanne Rozema (board member and parent), Joyce Buisman (Education Committee member and parent), Elaine Roorda (bus driver and parent), Scott Goodison (former parent), John Sprowl (board member and parent), Al Busiman (treasurer, grandparent and former parent), Karen Piccolo ((Education Committee member and parent), met for three intense days to sift through all of the data, look for similar ideas, develop themes, and create two plans: 1) a broad strokes, 5 year plan; 2) a detailed, operational plan for year one.
Since that first year, much has been accomplished through the Strategic Plan, and we continue to support the process for John Knox. In our fifth year, the plan is now a board responsibility, with the accountability, communication and follow-up duties undertaken by a board member.

The theme verse for the Strategic Plan:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3: 5,6
